Dragged down by value lost on Dangcem shares, trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange ended in the red, as the lead performance index NSEASI closed at 25,620.94 having lost 77Bpts of its previous closed point. It was a mixed performance among the observed market indices as featured in the index movement table. Both Week to Date and Month to Date market return were up by 171Bpts and 41Bpts respectively.
Value loss by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N68.486 billion, same as 77Bpts below the opening value. Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 24 advancers and 10 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date loss is -4.66% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date loss stood at –N381.625 billion same as 4.13% below the year’s opening value.
Nine listed equities unveiled their respective first quarter financials during today’s trading activities. Total Nig Plc profit after tax was N2.671 billion against N2.824 billion, Gtbank- PAT was N41.477 billion against N25.614 billion. Fidelity Bank PAT stood at N4.316 billion against N3.583 billion, Paint & Coatings PAT was N11.284 million against the audited 1Q 2015 N17.853. Livestocks Feeds PAT was N17.648 million against N2.328 million, UPDC reported a loss after tax of N1.192 billion against LAT of 127.74 million. Nem Insurance announced a PAT of N604.56 million against N2.291 billion. Lasaco Assurance PAT was N122.26 million against N115.97 million. All comparable periods are 1Q-2016.
Meanwhile, Guinness Nig Plc released its financials for the third quarter ended March 31st 2017. The result was a lost after tax of N2.555 billion as against the N864.17 million in the comparable period of 2016.
