Nigerian Equities Market Update: Activities Index Opened the Week Red, Dipped 47Bpts

Equities trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange rounded up the first trading day of the new week on a negative note as it shed -47Bpts. Aside NSE-Premium and NSE-Oil&Gas that added marginal points, other observed market indices followed the lead indicator’s path as shown in the index movement table. Nevertheless, Month to Date market return remained green at +43Bpts.

Value loss by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N41.572 billion same as 47Bpts below the opening value. Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 2 advancers and 22 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date loss is -4.64% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date loss stood at –N379.892 billion same as 4.11% below the year’s opening value.

Okomu Oil announced a N1.50 cash dividend for the year ended 31st December, 2016. The qualification date for same is 15th May, 2017 while the Agm and Payment dates are 23rd and 27th June, 2017 respectively. Similarly, Med-View Airline Plc proposed a 3k cash dividend to the shareholders whose names are in its registrar’s book between 2nd & 5th May, 2017 (both dates inclusive). Agm and payment date were both scheduled to hold on the 17th & 19th May, 2017 respectively.

Fidelity Bank proposed a very attractive dividend of 14k per unit share. The qualification date for the said dividend is in the next three trading days from today, that is, 13th April, 2017, while the payment date is 4th May, 2017. The annual general meeting had been planned to hold at Shell Hall, Muson Center, 8/9 Marina Lagos on the same date booked for payment. We expect the performance to boost the price of fidelity bank through the next three trading days.
