Low Price Attraction: NSEASI Opens the New Week in the Positive Territory

Starting up the new week, equities trading on the floor of The Nigerian Stock Exchange ended in the positive territory, as the lead performance pointer, NSEASI gained 33Bpts and closed at 40,573.31 from 40,439.85. Safe NSE-Lotus II index that shed points, other observed market indices in this report closed above their respective opening points. Thus, Week to Date, lead activities index is 33Bpts above opening, while the total lost points in the month of February is now 434Bpts. See the index movement table for details.

After the long bearish moves, good numbers of active equities now trade at relatively attractive prices, thus, investors were seen taking advantages of the low prices through today’s trading session, the move rounded up good numbers of stocks in the green. Please understand that aside the expected full year numbers, the headline inflation index is another factor that will impact the market before the month runs out. We therefore maintained that, playing dividend stocks will reduce investment risk around the market at the moment. Our technical tools spotted United Capital, AIICO and Neimeth for short term trading for the week.

The total value gained by the Market Capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N68.961 billion, same as 32pts above the opening value. Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 31 ADVANCERS and 13 LAGERS. NSEASI Year to Date gain is now 75Bpts while the Market Capitalization Year to Date gain stood at N168.097 billion same as 80Bpts above the year’s opening value.

Leading on the advancers’ log Seplat that gained 10.00% to close at N544.50 from N495.00. Japaul Gold followed on the log with 9.86% gain, thus it closed at N0.78 from N0.71. Mbenefit, AIICO and Multiverse completed the top 5 price percentage gainers list with 9.52%, 9.26% and 9.09% respectively.

On the flip side, Conoil and Royal Exchange led with 10.00% loss as they closed at n18.90 and N0.27 from N21.00 and N0.30 respectively. RTBriscoe followed on the log with 9.09% loss, thus it rounded up trade at N0.20 from N0.22. CHI Plc and Sovereign Trust completed the top 5 price percentage losers’ log with 8.70% and 7.69% respectively.

Over the Counter Market Index and Capitalisation ended in the positve territory by adding 0.37% each, thus, each rounded up at 738.59 and N529.95 billion respectively. Today’s performance produced one (1) advancer and one (1) decliner. Kindly view today’s price list Here.

As at the time this report was gathered, Brent Crude sells at 63.19$/bbl, this is 122Bpts above the previous close price. Please note that the CBN spot reference price as at close of business on 12th February is 61.34$/bbl.

The I&E FX Window opened at N405.13 traded as high as N422.99 before rounding up at N409.67, having transacted a total of $28.81 million through the day. In the money market, the Overnight (O/N) rate closed at 4.25%, same as 0.50% below the previous closing position. Meanwhile, Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate as at ended at 4.00% that is 0.50% below the previous close. Safe Trade.
