Maintaining bullish run, equities trading on the floor of The Nigerian Stock Exchange ended in the green, as the lead index NSEASI added a whooping 492Bpts to close at 28,909.37 from 27,554.49. All observed market sub market indices in this report rounded up the day above their respective openings as shown in the index movement table. Thus, Week to Date, activities index is 713Bpts above opening while the total gained points in the month of October is now 772Bpts. See the index movement table for details.
As noted in our previous reports, market is currently enjoying patronage from funds leaving various less yielding capital market instruments to seek for better interest in the stock market. Recall, that the situation was induced by the last MPC Meeting decision when rate was adjusted in other to create succour the damaging effect of the pandemic, even as the Headline Inflation kept trending north. In our opinion, the inflation figure will north drive due to the increment on fuel pump price. Nevertheless, we recommend a careful play around the market as the third quarter earnings may call for revaluation of less performing stocks.
The total value gained by the Market Capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N708.175 billion, same as 492Bpts above the opening value. Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 45 ADVANCERS and 08 LAGERS. NSEASI Year to Date gain is now 770Bpts while the Market Capitalization Year to Date gain stood at N2.152 trillion same as 1,661Bpts above the year’s opening value.
Cornerstone, IntBrew and Presco led on the advancers’ log with 10.00% gain each over their respective previous close prices, thus they closed at N0.66, N4.29 and N60.50 from N0.60, N3.90 and N55.00 respectively. FBNH and NNFM completed the top 5 price percentage gainers’ log with 9.91% and 9.88% respectively.
On the flip side, NPFMCRFBK led with 8.76% loss from its previous close price, thus it ended the day at N1.25 from N1.37. Wapic followed on the list with 7.69% loss that closed its price at N0.36 from N0.39. Academy Press, Berger Paints and Neimeth completed the top 5 price percentage losers’ log with 6.90%, 6.15% and 5.13% respectively.
