Nigerian Equities Market: Update13th February, 2017

Starting off the new week, the lead performance pointer of The Nigerian Stock Exchange jerked south by 38Bpts; the move is a big treat to its newly found support line. Should the bear persist on the next trading day, the support will become history. It was a mixed performance amongst the observed market indexes as NSE-Banking Index and NSE-Premium along with few others remained green. See the Index movement table for details. Please note that, total point lost in February so far is now 304Bpts.

Value loss by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N33.130 billion same as 38Bpts below the opening value.  Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 15 advancers and 17 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date loss is -6.07% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date loss stood at –N510.352 billion same as 5.52% below the year’s opening value.

The advancer’s log was led by BetaGlass that gained 4.99%. PZ-cussons posted the second recovery move of 4.98% after long days of harsh treatment from investors reacting to the previously released unimpressive figures. UAC-Property posted the first recovery attempt of 4.76% while Airline Services and Caverton completed the top 5 gainers log as shown in the top performers’ log.

Nascon took another 5% south drive that closed its share price at N7.03 from N7.40 where it took off for the day. Nigerian Breweries dipped further on investors’ sentiments and heightened expectation of unimpressive full year figures. Transcorp and CCNN shed 5% and 4.89% respectively, while Eterna oil completed the top 5 list with 4.75% on profit taking activities pressure.
