Nigerian Equities Market: Update Week Ended 27th January, 2017

Lead activities index of the Nigerian Bourse and Market Capitalization maintained recovery moves till the last trading day of the week as both added 15Bpts to build up gained points within the week to 40Bpts. By this performance, NSEASI reduced Month to Date loss to 203Bpts. All observed market indices ended the week on a green note except NSE-Premium Index that lost 13Bpts. Value gained by the market capitalization of the listed equities during Friday’s trading activities was N13.166 billion same as 15Bpts above the opening value.  Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 14 advancers and 22 lagers. NSEASI YtD loss is -2.03% while the Market Capitalization YtD loss stood at –N188.005 billion.

Led by Unity Bank, Oando and Stanbic Ibtc with 15.63%, 12.47% and 8.57% respectively, twenty-nine equities appreciated in price during the week. Meanwhile, Honeywell, MRS and Sterling led losers log with 11.29%, 9.74% and 8.75% as thirty (30) equities depreciated in price through the week, while one hundred and sixteen (116) equities closed on a flat note.

During the week, Omoluabi Savings and Loans Plc announced the change of name to Omoluabi Mortgage bank Plc. Similarly, Airline Services & Logistics Plc reported that it has changed to Newrest ASL Nig Plc.

Trans-Nationwide Express Plc seeks the NSE approval and listing of a Rights Issue of 298,230,000 ordinary shares of 50 Kobo each at 80 Kobo per share on the basis of Three (3) new ordinary shares for every Two (2) ordinary shares held by the existing shareholders. According to the report, the qualification date for the rights issue was Wednesday, 25th January, 2017.
