Nigerian Equities Market Update: NSEASI Remains in Green Territory, Adds 7Bpts

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange ended the first trading day of the week with a mild gain. Total point added during today’s trade was 7Bpts. NSE-Premium, NSE-pension and NSE-Industrial Goods shed points while other observed market indices treaded the lead indicator’s path. Month to Date, NSEASI is up by 135Bpts. Value gained by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N3.897 billion same as 4Bpts above the opening value. Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 13 advancers and 22 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date loss is -4.48% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date loss stood at –N364.953 billion same as 3.95% below the year’s opening value.


Riding on the wings of market forces, Mobil Oil and Nahco led the advancers’ log with 5% gain each. Fidson Healthcare followed closely with 4.49% while Guaranty Trust Bank and Nestle Foods completed the top five price percentage gainers for the day.
For the second trading day running, UCAP responded to profit taking activities call as it gave up 5% of its previous close price and closed at N2.66 from N2.80. Guinness followed with 4.99% loss while Custodian Alliance Insurance, Neimeth and Julius Berger lost 4.95%, 4.92% and 4.88% respectively.
As investors’ confidence received further boost on improved economy state, we expect more positive performance, though not without interval pull backs from profit taking activities. Hence we recommend cautious play around the market arena.
