Nigerian Equities Market Update: 5th January, 2017

Maintaining losing streak, the lead performance index of The Nigerian Stock Exchange-NSEASI closed red, shedding 107Bpts to close today’s trade at 26,212.09. It was a mixed performance among the observed market indexes as shown in the index movement table. Meanwhile, both Week to Date and Month to Date losses are currently at 152Bpts.

Value loss by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N97.354 billion same as 107Bpts above the opening value.  Meanwhile, today’s trading activities produced 17 advancers and 16 lagers. NSEASI YtD return is negative -2.47% while the Market Capitalization YtD loss stood at –N227.962 billion.

Leading the price percentage gainers for the day was UAC-Property that added 7.29% to its previous close price and closed at N3.09. Oando followed on market sentiments with 5.58% while Access Bank maintained defensive state as it gained 4.96%. Diamond bank attempted a recovery with 4.65% gain while Eterna Oil completed the top 5 gainers with 4.58%.

The losers log on the other hand was led by Nahco that gave up 9.49% Guinness suffered further due to unimpressive financial performance previously released as it lost another 5.00%. Dangote Flour shed 4.94% on profit taking activities while Custodian Insurance and Caverton completed the top 5 losers with 4.88% and 4.44% respectively.

Volume Index for today’s activity is 1.05 while buy volume and sell volume momentum is estimated at 0% and 100% respectively.
