Nigerian Equities Market: Update 3rd February, 2017

Rounding off the last trading day of the week, transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange swerved, shedding 52Bpts as it closed at 25,802.54. Week to Date, a total of 200Bpts was lost while the three trading days in the month of February sliced off 90Bpts off market trading points. Safe NSE-Premium and NSE-Industrial Goods that added 15Bpts and 437Bpts respectively, other observed market indexes ended south as shown in the index movement table.

Value lost by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N46.076 billion same as 52Bpts below the opening value.  Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 8 advancers and 22 lagers. NSEASI YtD loss is -3.99% while the Market Capitalization YtD loss stood at –N354.476 billion.

Trading activities within the week closed 23 equities above their respective opening prices. Meanwhile, leading the advancers is Caverton Offshore that added 15.94% to end the week at N0.80 from N0.69. Lafarge Wapco followed with 9.82% price appreciation while Unity Bank Mobil and 7up completed the top 5 list with 8.11%, 4.32% and 3.8% respectively.

On the weekly decliners’ log, 37 equities lined up, and Forte Oil led with 15.14% loss, having suffered from investors’ harsh reactions to the unimpressive financial it recently unveiled. Similarly, Neimeth gave up an equivalent of 15.07% of its opening value for the week to end at N0.62 from N0.61. UACN-Property, Total Nig Plc and Diamond Bank made up the top 5 price percentage losers log with 13.89%, 10.36% and 10.10% drop.

During the week, A total volume of 9,750,649,400 ordinary shares at N1.50 each belonging to MEDVIEW AIRLINE PLC were admitted to trade at the Exchange. Precisely on Tuesday 31st January, 2017.
