Nigerian Equities Market Update: 20th July, 2017

Riding on the wings of half year earnings season, the lead performance pointer of the Nigerian Stock Exchange -NSEASI maintained the bull side. Total point added today is 54Bpts. Safe NSE-Insurance that shed points, other observed market indices closed in the green territory. On the strength of the above, Week to Date market return increased to 131Bpts while Month to Date returns now stands at 175Bpts. See the index movement table for details.

Value gained by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N65.345 billion, same as 54Bpts above the opening value.  Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 29 advancers and 19 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date gain is 25.38% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date gain stood at N2.366 trillion same as 25.99% above the year’s opening value.

According to an update report from the management of UBA yesterday, the half year financial statistics has been approved alongside interim dividend. Kindly note that some positions are already awaiting this move, thus, cautiousness is advised while catching in on the bull rush that will follow this development.

 

More half year financial performances that hit the market today are; Lasaco Assurance Plc (Gross Premium Written: N4.751 bill against N4.009 bill, PAT; N387.456 mill against N492.876 mill), Transcorp Hotels; (Revenue: N6.199 bill against N7.607, PAT; N757.626 mill against N1.889 bill), FTN-COACOA: (Revenue: N18.553 thousand against N662.964 mill, LAT; -286.034 against N151.144 mill), Lafarge Wapco (Revenue; N154.839 bill against N107.364 bill, PAT; N19.732 bill against LAT N30.246 bill).
