Nigerian Equities Market Update: 19th July, 2017

Equities trading on the floor of The Nigerian Stock Exchange again ended in the green territory as it closed at 33,514.93 from 33,436.61. Total point added through today’s trade was 23Bpts. It was a mixed performance amongst the observed market indices as shown in the index movement table. Week to Date, NSEASI is up by 76Bpts while total points garnered so far in July is 120Bpts.

Value gained by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N26.992 billion, same as 23Bpts above the opening value. Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 24 advancers and 24 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date gain is 24.71% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date gain stood at N2.304 trillion same as 24.92% above the year’s opening value.

Unlike the previous trading days when the active sectors closed in the red, smart investors taking advantage of the two days price drop in their respective equities positively impacted the sectors. For example NSE-Banking Index and NSE-Oil&Gas both added 107Bpts and 144Bpts respectively.

The management of African Prudential unveiled its half year financial statistics today. In the report, Turnover grew to N488.153 million from the N425.936 million reported in corresponding period of 2016. Reported profit equally increased to N864.236 million against the N262.625 million in similar period of last year.

On the other hand, Secure Electronics Technology Plc released lower performance; turnover dropped to N3.447 billion from N 3.738 billion in comparable period. Profit after Tax equally stemmed down to N28.226 million from N34.931 million reported in last half year financial.
