Nigerian Equities Market: Update 16th February, 2017

Reversing the previous day’s recovery move, the performance index of the Nigerian Bourse dived south by 30Bpts and closed at 25,055.29 point. It was a mixed performance amongst the observed market indexes as shown in the index movement table. Week to Date, the performance pointer is down by 112Bpts while the total point shed in the current month is 377Bpts.


Value loss by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N25.946 billion same as 30Bpts below the opening value. Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 17 advancers and 17 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date loss is -6.77% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date loss stood at –N575.761 billion same as 6.23% below the year’s opening value.
The management of United Capital Plc today made available to the investing public its full year financial statistics for the year ended 31st December, 2016. The report which was a growth in both the top and bottom line rewarded investors with 50k cash dividend. The said dividend has a good yield of 13.55% over the current market price of N3.69.


The qualification date for the 50k dividend is 2nd March, 2017 since the book is scheduled for closure on 3rd March 2017. The Agm date is March 17th while Payment date is 22nd March. The Agm is scheduled to hold at Eko Hotel and Suits Plot 1415 Adetokunbo Ademola str Victoria Island Lagos.
This result agreed with our expectations of positive financials from listed service firms, especially those in the financial sector.
