Nigerian Equities Market: Update 10th February, 2017

Rounding off the week, equities trading on the floor of the Nigerian Bourse added marginal 7Bpts to close the week at 25,340.02. It was a mixed performance among the observed market indices as shown in the index movement table. Week to Date, the lead index slide by 179Bpts, while a total of 267Bpts had been lost so far in the month of February.

Value gained by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N6.134 billion same as 7Bpts above the opening value.  Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 20 advancers and 10 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date loss is -5.71% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date loss stood at –N477.221 billion same as 5.16% below the year’s opening value.

A total of 19 equities appreciated during the week. The list was led by Caverton with 12.50% price appreciation that closed it price at N0.90 from N0.80 where it opened the week. Beta Glass followed closely on the log with 10.23% gain while Neimeth, AxaMansard and Transcorp completed the top 5 gainers log for the week.

Thirty eight equities ended the week below their respective opening prices. The list was led by UAC-Property with 23.79% loss. PZ Cussons followed with 18.46% loss while Forte Oil, FBNH and Nestle Foods completed the top 5 list with 11.69%, 10.57% and 8.18% respectively.

During the week, a total volume of 29,464,249,300 ordinary shares at N1.25 each belonging to JAIZ BANK PLC were admitted to trade at the Exchange on Thursday 9th of February, 2017. While Access Bank its divestment of 17.65% equity shareholding in Stanbic IBTC Pension Manager Ltd in compliance to CBN directive.
