Nigerian Equities Maket: Update 10th January, 2017

Reversing good portion of the previous day’s gained points, the lead performance index of The Nigerian Stock Exchange closed red, shedding 88Bpts to end the trade at 26,346.24 point. Only NSE-Oil&Gas closed blue while other observed market indices followed the lead indicators’ path. See the index movement table for details. Week to Date the market gained 36Bpts while 197Bpts has been lost so far in January 2017.

Value loss by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N80.508 billion same as 88Bpts above the opening value.  Meanwhile, today’s trading activities produced 19 advancers and 25 lagers. NSEASI YtD loss is negative -1.97% while the Market Capitalization YtD loss stood at –N181.805 billion.

Standing tall among the advancers for the day is UAC-Properties that added 5% to its previous close price to end the day’s trade at N3.15. Continental Insurance followed with 4.76% while Nahco, Airline Services and Wapic Insurance completed the top 5 price percentage gainers list for the day with 4.63$, 4.40% and 3.85% respectively

Cutix led the losers’ log with 9.52% loss that ended its share price at N1.71. Caverton followed closely with 9.30% to close at N0.78 from N0.86. 7up Bottling, Fidson Healthcare and May&Baker completed the log. See the performance log for details.

No gainers emerged from trading on the ETF Securities. Meanwhile VETBANK led with 2.14% loss, VETGRIF30 came next with 0.75% loss while VETGOODS, VTINDETF and LOTUSHAL15 gave up 0.43%, 0.26% and 0.23% respectively.

Volume Index for today’s activity is 1.15 while buy volume and sell volume momentum is estimated at 3% and 97% respectively.
