MARKETS’ BRIEFS Friday/Week Ended 2nd Nov., 2018

Rounding up the last trading day of the week, equities trading on the floor of The Nigerian Stock Exchange added 37Bpts to its trading points, thereby closing NSEASI at 32,124.94 from 32,006.65. It was a mixed performance amongst the observed market indices as shown in the index movement table. Week to Date, total loss points was 238Bpts while the loss points within the few trading days of November is now 105Bpts. See the index movement table for details.

Value gained by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N43.183 billion, same as 37Bpts above the opening value.  Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 14 advancers and 21 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date loss is now 16.00% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date loss stood at N1.881 trillion same as 11.73% below the year’s opening value.

Week Ended, 2nd November, 2018

The week experienced a three days of bearish move of which two was major, and two marginal green days for a net of one bearish day. As noted above, the lead performance pointer NSEASI gave up 238Bpts of its trading points during the week; similarly, the Market Capitalization of the listed equities closed at N11.728 trillion after losing 238Bpts of its opening value.

Activities during the week moved 18 equities above their respective opening points while 50 shed prices and 101 equities were active but remained unchanged. Leading on the advancers’ log for the week was; Presco that added 12.92% to its opening price and rounded up the week at N59.85 from N53.00. Neimeth followed on the log with 11.11% gain while The Consolidated Hallmark, Newrest Asl and C&I Leasing, completed the top 5 list with 10.00%, 10.00% and 9.80% respectively.

Decliners’ log on the other hand was led by Unity Bank Plc with 21.11% loss that closed the equity’s share price at N0.71 from N0.90. Dangflour lost by 21.09%, while CCNN, Meyer Plc and Diamond Bank completed the top 5 percentage losers’ log with 18.84%, 17.65% and 16.67% respectively.
