MARKETS’ BRIEF Friday/Week Ended 9th Nov., 2018

Rounding up the last trading day of the week, equities trading on the floor of The Nigerian Stock Exchange gave up 9Bpts of its trading points, thereby closing NSEASI at 32,200.21 from 32,228.50. It was a mixed performance amongst the observed market indices as shown in the index movement table. Week to Date, gained points was 23Bpts while 82Bpts had been lost in the month of November. Value loss by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N10.325 billion, same as 9Bpts below the opening value.  Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 18 advancers and 19 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date loss is now 15.80% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date loss stood at N1.853 trillion same as 13.62% below the year’s opening value.

Week Ended, 9th November, 2018

The week experienced a three days of bearish moves, and two green days for a net of one bearish day. As noted above, the lead performance pointer NSEASI added 23Bpts of its trading points during the week; similarly, the Market Capitalization of the listed equities closed at N11.755 trillion after gaining 23Bpts of its opening value.

Activities during the week moved 27 equities above their respective opening points while 39 shed prices and 103 equities remained unchanged. Leading on the advancers’ log for the week were; UACN and NPF-Microfinance, both added 11.11% each to their respective opening prices and rounded up the week at N10.00 from N9.00 and N1.50 and N1.35 respectively . Presco followed on the log with 10.69% gain while Nahco and John Holt completed the top five list with, 10.00% gains each.

Decliners’ log on the other hand was led by Mutual Benefit  with 23.33% loss that closed the equity’s share price at N0.23 from N0.30. Flour Mills lost by 16.67%, while Lafarge Wapco, CCNN and Oando completed the top five losers’ list with 14.29%, 11.60% and 10.58% loss respectively.
