Dangcem Lifted NSEASI to Green Zone: Friday/Week Ended 26th Oct., 2018

Rounding up the last trading day of the week, equities trading on the floor of The Nigerian Stock Exchange received a major boost from Dangote Cement share price and added 111Bpts, thereby closing NSEASI at 32,841.69 from 32,664.63. It was a mixed performance amongst the observed market indices as shown in the index movement table. Week to Date total gained points was 20Bpts while the gained point within the month of October is also 43Bpts. See the index movement table for details.

Value gained by the market capitalization of the listed equities during today’s trading activities was N132.255 billion, same as 111Bpts above the opening value.  Meanwhile, trading activities for the day produced 13 advancers and 23 lagers. NSEASI Year to Date loss is now 13.95% while the Market Capitalization Year to Date loss stood at N1.595 trillion same as 11.73% below the year’s opening value.

Week Ended, 26th Oct., 2018

The week experienced a one day of major bearish move and four green days for a net of three bearish day. As noted above, the lead performance pointer NSEASI added 20Bpts of its trading points during the week; similarly, the Market Capitalization of the listed equities closed at N12.014 trillion after gaining 20Bpts of its opening value.

Activities during the week moved 26 equities above their respective opening points while 42 shed prices and 101 equities were active but remained unchanged. Leading on the advancers’ log was Diamond Bank Plc that added 20.00% to its opening price and rounded up the week at N1.44 from N1.20. Law Union followed on the log with 16.00% gain while The Fidelity Bank, Royal Exchange and Julius Berger completed the top 5 list with 10.58%, 10.00% and 9.98% respectively.

Decliners’ log on the other hand was led by MCNicholes with 30.51% loss that closed the equity’s share price at N0.41 from N0.59 where it took off the week. Lafarge lost by 13.10%, while Beta Glass, Portland Paints and Veritas Kapital completed the top 5 percentage losers’ log with 11.54%, 10.00% and 10.00% respectively.
